Animal Farm Questions Chapters 1-3

1. Identify Old Major, Boxer, Clover, Benjamin and Mollie. Old Major is a boar/pig. Boxer and Clover are horses. Mollie is a mare.
2. For what purpose did Old Major call the meeting of the animals? Old Major call the meeting of the animals to tell the animals about a dream he had.
3. After they vote and decide rats are comrades, Old Major summarizes his points for the animals to remember. What are they? Old Major points are anything that walk on four legs or have wings is a friend and that anything that walk on two legs is a enemy.
4. What is "Beast of England"? For what does it stand? The Beast of England is a song. The song stand for the future in which animals will be free of the control humans.
5. Why did the pigs get the job of teaching and organizing? The pigs got the job of teaching and organizing because they were the most intelligent animal on the farm.
6. Identify Snowball,Napoleon, Squealer and Moses. Snowball, Napoleon and Squealer are pigs. Moses is a raven.
7. What actually brought about the rebellion? What brought about the rebellion was the animals not being fed and being beaten by Jones and the other men.
8. What were the seven commandments? The seven commandments were no animal shall wear clothes, no animal shall sleep in a bed, no animal shall drink alcohol, no animal shall kill another animal, whatever walk on two legs is an enemy, whatever walk on four legs or have wings is a friend and all animals are equal.
9. Who gained leadership of the animals? Why? Napoleon and Snowball gained the leadership of the animals.
10. Describe the animals' flag. The animals flag was green with horns and hoofs on it.
11. What happened to the milk and apples? How did Squealer rationalize that? The pigs took the milk and apples. Squealer rationalize this by telling the animals that the pigs need the the apples and milk because it's good for their health.
